I've noticed that my computer is consuming a lot of memory—about half of my RAM—just by running normally. When I boot up games, they end up using nearly all of it. This wasn't a problem before, so I'm curious about what might have changed and how I can fix this issue.

It sounds like something changed recently that could be draining your RAM. Have you added any new software or updates? That might be the culprit.
Remember to check what programs are running on startup. Sometimes things can sneak in that eat up memory without you even realizing it.
Since you mentioned having 16GB of RAM, it's not too alarming if you're running on Windows. Windows can be a bit memory-hungry, but if you're on Linux, it might raise some eyebrows unless you've got a ton of programs starting up when you boot.
