Why is my CPU hitting 100% usage while gaming?

Hey everyone! I just installed a Ryzen 5800X with a new fan, but I'm having some serious issues. Whenever I try to play a game, the CPU usage skyrockets to 100%, and the fan gets super loud. Even when I boot up my PC, it runs quite loudly, hovering around 20% to 50% usage. I updated my chipset drivers, but the problem persists, even with just normal browsing on Google. Any ideas on how to fix this?

It sounds like your CPU is struggling with something. A good first step is to check your fan curves in the BIOS. You can tweak them there for better cooling. Alternatively, you might want to try using FanControl on Windows to adjust the fan speeds more dynamically. That might help keep your temps down during gaming and prevent the CPU from going nuts!

I had a similar issue! Adjusting the fan curve really helped with the noise, and I noticed better temps overall when gaming.

Just a heads-up, it can also be worth checking your background processes. Sometimes, there are apps running that can hog CPU resources. Make sure nothing's sneaking in and using up CPU when you’re just trying to browse or play.

Good point! I found a game booster app that helps shut down unnecessary background tasks, and it made a difference for me.

If the CPU is still hitting 100% even after trying those adjustments, I’d consider monitoring your temps using HWMonitor or something similar. It’s possible the cooler isn’t seated correctly or something is off with the thermal paste. Keeping an eye on temps can help diagnose if it’s a hardware issue.
