Hey everyone! So, about two weeks ago, I started experiencing overheating issues with my CPU, which led to my machine shutting down. I managed to fix it last week by getting a new case, reseating everything, and applying fresh thermal paste. The temperatures stabilized to around 50 degrees at idle and peaked at 80 under full load. However, things took a turn yesterday when I noticed that my CPU is now idling at 70 degrees and reaching up to 93 degrees under load, despite not having changed anything recently. I don't overclock or run any heavy tasks. I'm using a Ryzen 7 7800x3d with an NZXT Kraken 240 cooler. Any ideas on why the temperatures could jump up so dramatically? Thanks in advance!

Here’s what I think might be going on:
- Check if there's anything wrong with your cooler—like if it's not pumping properly or if the fans aren't working.
- Also, ensure that there are no clogs in your cooler or radiator; some compressed air can help clear that out.
- Though it's a long shot, look for incorrect fan headers on the motherboard. Sometimes BIOS settings can mess with things too, so double-check that and your fan curves.
- Since you applied new thermal paste, hopefully, you didn’t leave any packaging on the cooler!
Hope this helps with your troubleshooting! Good luck!
Sounds like you've covered a lot! Just keep monitoring the load temps, and don't hesitate to try reinstalling your cooler if needed.
First off, what CPU and cooler are you using? Sometimes background apps can sneakily increase CPU usage, so check if anything is running that shouldn't be. Since you mentioned your cooler, if it's an AIO cooler, make sure the pump is functioning properly and the fans are spinning. If it's air cooling, it might be worth checking if those fans are working well too. Just some quick checks could help you get to the bottom of this!
Thanks for the input! I’ll check on that.
I'm also curious about what might be running in the background! Sometimes, even just a couple of apps can surprise you with their CPU utilization.
I checked all that, the airflow seems good. Compressed air cleaned everything out.
