Why is my cursor moving on its own and how can I fix it?

I've been having a weird issue with my cursor lately. It keeps turning into a dot and moving to the top of the screen on its own. Whenever I try to control it with my trackpad, nothing happens. If I plug in a mouse, it seems to work a bit better, but I don't have one handy at the moment. Interestingly, when I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, I can control the cursor perfectly on that screen. There's also a new pen icon appearing in the bottom right corner that I hadn't noticed before this started. I'm really worried because I need to use my computer for class soon. Can someone help me figure this out?

Sounds like a frustrating issue! It seems like the Windows Pen & Ink feature might be causing some glitches, especially if you have a touchscreen laptop. Sometimes, the pen feature can interfere with normal cursor control. You might want to check your device settings. Try disabling 'Pen Flicks' and other pen-related features in the settings under Devices > Pen & Windows Ink. That might help stabilize your cursor.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check that out. I really appreciate the help.

It definitely sounds like a software issue. If the pen icon showed up out of nowhere, it could be that a recent update activated some pen settings again. You could go back into your Control Panel and ensure that all pen-related settings are turned off. Also, consider updating your drivers if they’re outdated; sometimes that fixes odd cursor behavior too.

Good point! I'll look for any available updates in my settings as well. Thanks!
