Why is my Ethernet causing higher ping rates?

I'm experiencing significant ping spikes when I connect my laptop and TV through an Ethernet cable. I'm using a CAT8 2000MHz cable that goes from my T-Mobile 5G router to a USB hub. This issue doesn't happen when I connect via Wi-Fi instead. Any ideas on why this happens and if my current setup is the problem?

It sounds like you might be creating a network loop with your setup. You really don’t need a CAT8 cable for this. A CAT6 would work just fine. Can you clarify how everything is connected? That could help pinpoint the issue!

Honestly, you might be better off just using Wi-Fi for this setup. With your configuration, Ethernet seems unnecessary. But if you're seeing lower pings when connecting to your phone, it does sound more like a setup issue rather than the cable itself.

Your USB connection could be bottlenecking your speed. If possible, try using quality USB components or connect directly instead of through a hub. Also, your CAT8 might be a scam; consider getting a legit CAT5e or CAT6 cable.
