Why is my Ethernet connection slower than WiFi?

I recently switched to using a Cat 8 Ethernet cable for a direct connection to my PC, but I'm noticing that my upload and download speeds are only 93 Mbps, while my WiFi connection was around 200 Mbps. I have an X570 I Aorus Pro WiFi ITX motherboard, and my network connections speed is showing 100 Mbps on auto duplex. I've also updated the Intel drivers. My router, an ARRIS NVG468MQ, has 4 LAN ports, and I use Frontier as my ISP. Is there anything else I can try to improve my ethernet speed?

It sounds like the Cat 8 cable might not be the best option for you; sometimes these higher category cables can just be marketing hype. I would recommend switching to a reputable Cat 6 cable for more reliable performance.

Check what speed your LAN connection is showing in the properties. Also, have you tried resetting your router? Make sure the cable is securely connected to one of the yellow ports. If possible, test with another ethernet cable to see if your current one is the problem.

The LAN speed shows 100.0 Mbps, and yes, I updated directly from Intel. I did pull the cable through a drywall hole which might have scuffed it a little, but I'm not 100% sure if that affects performance.
