Why is my Fedora Linux running so slow compared to Windows 10?

I recently installed Fedora GNOME on my SSD, which is the only operating system on my device. I made sure to update everything and have installed fewer than ten extensions. However, I've noticed that the boot time and app loading speed are really slow, and my internet is dragging too. I'm wondering if this is a package issue or if Fedora is generally slower than Windows 10. Here are my specs: Fedora GNOME 42, AMD Ryzen 5 processor, Intel Wi-Fi card, and an EVM NVMe Gen 3 256GB SSD (where the OS is installed), plus a 1TB HDD that's not formatted.

**Important Tip:** Always include your Linux distribution, hardware details, and any error messages when posting technical questions! 😊

If you're using an RTX card, consider installing Manjaro GNOME with proprietary drivers enabled. Make sure to update it, enable AUR in "Add/Remove Software," and search for "Manjaro unstable repo" online to find commands for updating. If it's still slow after that, we may need to diagnose further!

It sounds like you might not have the correct graphics driver installed. Also, you didn't mention if you're on a desktop or a laptop, or what kind of GPU you're using, which could be relevant. It's common for laptops to have power-saving modes that can slow things down too. Just something to look into!

Thanks for the info! I tried manually installing the driver, but my device wasn't recognizing it. I found out it's a common issue with my Wi-Fi card, and I had no choice but to switch back to a previous kernel. By the way, I have a laptop with an integrated Radeon Vega 9 GPU and my battery is set to performance mode.

Why not try a different Linux distribution to see if it’s specific to Fedora? Sometimes switching can help identify the problem.

I actually tried the Fedora KDE version and didn’t have the same issues there, but I had trouble with my Wi-Fi driver, so I reverted to GNOME.
