Why Is My Gaming Laptop Lagging After a Crash?

I've been using my Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop for about two years, and yesterday it crashed while I was running a couple of games that aren't too demanding on the graphics. When I restarted it, the HDMI output stopped working. I found out that my graphics driver was turned off in the device manager, but after turning it back on, the HDMI started working again. However, now the games I'm playing are laggy compared to before the crash. I've been monitoring the GPU performance with Nitrosense, and it's only hitting 225 MHz, which doesn't seem right since I thought it should be around 3000 MHz. I also checked using the dxdiag tool, and it shows an error related to my AMD Radeon Graphics device. I'm looking for advice on how to test if my GPU is failing and what steps I can take to fix this issue.

If your games aren't recognizing the GPU, you could try reinstalling the graphics drivers. Make sure you’re using the latest version from the AMD website. That should help in case there was any corruption after the crash.

You might want to check if the games are using the correct GPU settings. Sometimes after a crash, the settings can revert. Go into the game settings and make sure it’s set to utilize the GPU. Nudge those graphical settings around a bit to see if the performance changes.
