Why is my GPU acting up all of a sudden?

I've got a 6800xt GPU that was running great until last night. Out of nowhere, the fan got really loud, and all my monitors went black. I decided to turn off my PC and get some sleep since it was late. This morning, I tried switching PCIe slots and even swapped GPUs, but nothing changed. Task Manager doesn't recognize either card, and it seems like only one port is working for each GPU. I've never experienced this before and could really use some help!

It sounds like there might be an issue with the PCIe slots on your motherboard. Sometimes, they can get damaged from wear or just malfunction unexpectedly. Did you notice any physical damage to the slots? Also, having a support bracket can help prevent heavy cards from sagging and causing connection issues.

I didn’t see any visible damage, but maybe I should look closer. I didn’t use a support bracket, but there was a part of the motherboard that seemed like it could help. Maybe that wasn’t enough?
