Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle with my home WiFi situation. My roommate pays for gigabit internet, but we're only getting around 250 Mbps on our devices. We've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps:
1. Contacted our internet service provider; they checked our lines and confirmed everything is fine.
2. Reset the modem and router, and updated the firmware.
3. Connected directly to the modem with a PC using a CAT6 cable and hit 800 Mbps, so at least we know the modem is working well.
4. Switched out the router, but the results didn't improve, possibly even got worse.
5. Changed the CAT6 cable connecting the router and modem, but that didn't help either.
6. Messed with security settings on the router, but discovered that some devices don't support WPA3.
We're totally lost at this point. Any advice on what else we could try?

What WiFi protocol are you using? It could be 802.11 b, a, g, n, ac, or ax—those on the left are slower. Also, what band are you on? 2.4 GHz has a longer range but is slower, while 5 GHz is faster but has a shorter reach. Just a thought!

I'm using 802.11ac and the 5 GHz band.
