I have an HP Victus laptop that I tried turning on today, but I thought it wouldn't start even though the power light is on. I then realized the screen is just too dark to work with—I can only see the white circle on the login page, and I can't even tell if the cursor is there. Pressing the brightness key (F3) doesn't change anything. Any help would be appreciated!

Honestly, I've had a similar problem with HP laptops where the LED backlight just goes out. I've repaired it myself a couple of times, but be careful because the process can be tricky. It's relatively cheap to get the part, but taking the laptop apart can be time-consuming and you might break some plastic clips or the keyboard ribbon. Just a heads up!
Try shining a flashlight on your screen at an angle. If you can see faint images or anything at all, it might be an issue with the LCD backlight.
So what should I do?
