Why is my iPhone 14’s battery health dropping so quickly?

I got my iPhone 14 just five months ago, and it started out with 100% battery health when I activated it. For about three months, it stayed at 100%, but after I updated to iOS 16, it began to decline. Now, from November 1st until now, it's dropped from 96% to 93%. Is this normal? How does this happen?

Battery health can drop over time, even within a short period like five months. The decrease you’re seeing might be attributed to the battery cycles. Apple states that iPhones are designed to keep 80% of their capacity after about 500 full charge cycles. If your battery was manufactured earlier or has a higher cycle count, this might explain the drop. It's also possible that the software update affected how the battery's health is reported. Keep an eye on it, but a small drop like that isn't uncommon.

Thanks for the info! I’ll check my cycle count. Where can I find that?

You can find the cycle count in the settings under Battery Health, but it may take a bit of digging depending on your version.
