Why is my laptop battery draining in sleep mode?

I have a Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G2 and I'm facing a pretty irritating issue where my battery drains quickly even when the laptop is in sleep mode. This has happened on both Windows and Linux, and it's really frustrating. Just the other day, I left it with 86% battery and went to work, only to come back 8 hours later and find it dead. For comparison, I have an ASUS laptop with similar specs that can stay in sleep mode for days with little battery loss. I'm using the Bazzite distro and my power state shows S2 idle deep. I'm looking for guidance on how to solve this issue without resorting to hibernation if possible. Any tips?

If turning it off completely isn't an option for you, consider using the shutdown option. I get that it interrupts workflow, but it might save you battery for those longer meetings. It's puzzling why this is a newer issue for you, as you mentioned older laptops handled sleep better. Have you tried looking into any recent updates or tweaks that might have been applied?

Yeah, I haven’t changed much lately, but I’ll look into it. Thanks for the tip!

Seems like your laptop is definitely not conserving power in sleep mode. Aside from hibernation, you might want to check if there are any settings in your BIOS or Linux power management tools that could help manage power better during sleep. Sometimes tweaking the power settings or even updating your BIOS can make a difference. It's frustrating for sure, but there may be a fix out there!

Right, it could help! Also, do check for any unnecessary background processes that might keep the system awake.
