Why is my laptop stuck at 30 FPS after moving?

I recently moved houses, and now my laptop, which was running games at over 150 FPS, is capped at around 30 FPS. I made sure all the settings are the same, and I shut it down and unplugged it in the old house, then plugged it in and turned it on in the new one. The only significant change is that I haven't set up an ethernet connection yet, so I'm just using Wi-Fi. Interestingly, the Wi-Fi here is better than the ethernet at my last place, so I'm puzzled about why this would affect my FPS. Any thoughts on this issue?

Hahaha, can you move your house back to see if that fixes it? Just kidding! Seriously though, it might be worth troubleshooting other factors too, like cooling. If your laptop is overheating, it could throttle performance. Just something to consider!

It's not likely that moving your house would impact performance, but it's strange that your FPS dropped so much. Have you checked your laptop's power settings? Sometimes the laptop might default to 'best power efficiency' when plugged in, which limits performance. That could explain the drastic change. Let me know if you find anything there!

Yeah, actually, it somehow got stuck in 'best power efficiency' mode!

The internet connection shouldn't impact FPS in games, but it might affect your ping and latency if you're playing online. It sounds like the issue is more related to your laptop's settings than the move itself. Make sure your drivers are up to date, and check if the performance mode is switched to high performance rather than balanced or power saving.

I’ll give that a look! Really want to get back to my usual FPS.
