Why is my laptop’s memory usage so high?

I'm noticing that my 8 GB laptop is running really high on memory usage. Right after I turn it on and everything is closed, it's already at 60%. Then when I just have Google open, it jumps to 90%! I've checked the task manager, but I can't figure out what's using all that memory. Can anyone suggest what might be going on? If you need more information, just let me know!

It sounds like your RAM usage isn't as bad as you think. Even with nothing visible open, Windows has background processes that run and can take up memory. For example, I also have 8GB and find mine running about 77% with just Chrome and a few tabs open. So don't stress too much about 60% at startup; it’s pretty normal. Windows uses RAM for caching too, which helps speed things up. Just check if your laptop is actually running slow when you open programs—if it's working fine, you might not need to worry!

You might want to consider reinstalling your OS if you're really worried about security. Some users suggest that high memory usage could indicate a RAT, but honestly, it’s pretty common to have some usage from background processes. Just keep an eye out for any unusual behavior on your laptop!

I didn't mention anything about suspecting a RAT. I'm just concerned about the unusual memory usage.
