Why is my Lenovo IdeaPad 520 so slow and freezing?

Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my Lenovo IdeaPad 520-15IKB. It's running really slow and sometimes it just freezes. I ran some diagnostics on the Lenovo website, and the only problem it flagged was a faulty fan. An IT person cleaned the fan and said that it's actually not the cause. I'm looking for any advice on how to fix this! Just for context, here are the specs: It has 20GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-8550U CPU clocked at 1.80GHz (up to 1.99GHz), Windows 11 Home, and an Nvidia GeForce graphics card.

If you're unsure about how to test your disk, you can use the built-in tools like Windows' Disk Check utility. Just right-click on your drive in File Explorer, go to Properties, then the Tools tab, and select 'Check.' It will scan for any issues with your disk.

I suggest starting with hardware monitoring to see what's going on when it's slow. Check the CPU, GPU, and disk usage during the slow moments. Also keep an eye on the temperatures and CPU/GPU frequencies. You can use tools like CrystalDisk Info to quickly check your disk health. If everything looks good, it might be a software issue—backup your files and consider doing a clean install of Windows instead of just a reset. That often helps with performance issues.
