Hey everyone, I've got a 2020 MacBook Air with an M1 chip and only 256GB of storage. I noticed that the system settings are taking up a whopping 97.35GB, while macOS itself is using 23.93GB. This leaves me barely any space—just 300MB! I've tried everything from deleting apps and documents to moving files onto a USB drive. I've even cleared caches and logs, plus restarted my laptop a couple of times, but nothing seems to help. As a student without a credit card, I can't afford subscriptions, and buying a new laptop with more space is a stretch for me. I'd love some advice on how to manage this storage issue while doing my technical and creative work without constantly worrying about space.

Another possible culprit could be Time Machine backups. If you have it set up, running a backup to an external drive might clear some space. But if you haven't configured it yet, it shouldn’t be affecting your storage.
I haven't set up Time Machine at all. Would that still have an impact on my storage?
