I'm struggling with high ping on my home network, where I usually get over 70 ping using both Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, when I switch to my mobile hotspot, my ping drops to around 40. I find this confusing since I'm using a good Ethernet cable and can't figure out why the mobile hotspot performs better. Can anyone offer suggestions on how I might improve my home connection? This is for my PC, by the way.

It sounds like your home network setup could be affecting your ping. The conditions at home matter a lot—if multiple devices are using the network, especially with bandwidth-heavy activities, it could impact your performance. Since your mobile hotspot seems more reliable, it might be that your hotspot connects to servers better than your home network can manage.
Actually, this makes sense! Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi at home likely share the same internet connection upstream, and if that's overloaded or slower, your ping will be higher. Your mobile hotspot might just have a clearer path to the servers you're connecting to, allowing for lower ping. Have you looked into your ISP or considered switching to a better plan?
