I'm experiencing overheating issues with my MSI RTX 5090 when gaming in 4K at max settings. The GPU frequently reaches temperatures of 90°C, and I can actually feel the heat turning my room into an oven. I'm concerned about the possible problems my setup might have. Here's my full build:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- GPU: MSI RTX 5090 Ventus
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB 6000MHz CL30
- SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe
- PSU: Asrock Phantom 1600W
- Cooling: be quiet! Light Loop 360
- Case: Phanteks Evolve X2

Getting an air conditioner or even just good fans might also help physically lower the room temp. Just know that it's normal for a card like this to generate a lot of heat!
Especially if you're gaming for hours; an AC will make a big difference!
Undervolting the GPU might help reduce temperatures and keep your system from heating up the entire room. It's worth a shot!
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if you can keep it under control with undervolting!
Definitely! I did that for mine, and it helped my temps go down significantly during gaming.
Just a heads-up, be sure to optimize your fan setup. If your GPU is killing it performance-wise but the temps are still high, airflow is everything!
True! Make sure intake and exhaust fans are set up properly.
Yeah, it’s usually the little things that can make a big difference!
Check your case fans. If they aren't positioned correctly, you might not be getting enough airflow which can lead to higher temps. Also, consider if your case is capturing too much heat.
I think my fans are fine, but I could look into it. My case is a bit cramped for such a powerful GPU.
Exactly! If air can't move well, any heat generated will just stick around and raise your GPU temp.
Totally! The performance comes at a cost, and getting that heat out of your room is important.
