Hey everyone! I recently picked up a new monitor that supports 240Hz at 1440p. However, when I hook it up to my laptop, it's stuck at 144Hz. My laptop sports a 165Hz display, and it has an Intel i7 13th gen and an RTX 4050 GPU. I'm using an HDMI 2.1 cable to connect to the monitor, but the monitor only has an HDMI 2.0b port. How can I get it to run at 240Hz? Any help would be appreciated!

It looks like you're hitting a limit with the HDMI 2.0 connection. Unfortunately, HDMI 2.0 can't support 240Hz at 1440p, so even if your laptop has HDMI 2.1, it's not going to make a difference when you're plugged into a 2.0 port on the monitor. Your best bet is to use a DisplayPort connection instead, which should allow for the full 240Hz. Check if your laptop supports video output via USB-C; if it does, you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to get the higher refresh rate!
Another option is to use DisplayPort and also check the overclocking settings on your monitor, if available. Many laptops with USB-C connections also support DisplayPort alternate mode, which means you can achieve that 240Hz refresh rate if you get the right cable. Just make sure to switch your settings around to maximize your performance!
I didn't really understand, could you simplify that?
I have Thunderbolt 4 on my laptop, so can I use that for display?
