I recently replaced my CPU and used the stock cooler that came with it. When I turned on my PC and checked the BIOS, the CPU temperatures were surprisingly high, in the 70s. The fans are running, but I'm not sure why it's getting so hot. Any tips or advice on what might be wrong?

It sounds like you might be using the same cooler from an older CPU. Different CPUs can generate different amounts of heat, and your stock cooler might not be sufficient for your new CPU. If you upgraded from, say, an i3 to an i9, that would definitely explain the higher temps!
Did you apply fresh thermal paste when you changed the CPU? It’s crucial to remove the old paste and put on a new layer. If there’s poor contact between the cooler and the CPU, it can really heat up quickly. Without good contact, it won't cool properly.
Yes, I applied new thermal paste when I installed the new CPU.
