I recently purchased a Crucial X10 2TB SSD, which claims speeds of up to 2000 MB/s, but when I test it using CrystalDiskMark, the speed never exceeds about 40 MB/s. The tests are taking a long time to complete, which seems odd since I thought they were supposed to be quick. I've checked my BIOS settings to make sure that something related to xHCI handover is enabled, and my device manager shows that I have USB 3.0 ports. I've tried connecting the SSD to various ports on my PC, including moving it from the front blue port to the red ports in the back, but nothing seems to help. I even reformatted the drive from exFAT to NTFS in hopes of improving performance. Additionally, I downloaded USBTreeView, but I'm unsure how to interpret the data. Any ideas on what might be going wrong? My motherboard is an MSI PRO B760-P WI-FI DDR4 ProSeries. I also noticed some USB-related settings in device manager, and I changed the removal policy to better performance from quick removal. Is that advisable? The reason I bought this SSD was because my previous internal drive started having issues. Any guidance would be appreciated!

It sounds like you might have a counterfeit SSD. Check HWiNFO to verify if it shows the correct model number and serial number that’s printed on the drive and the box. If everything checks out, you might want to use Disk Management to delete and recreate the primary partition, just in case there's an issue with the formatting.

I assure you, the SSD is genuine. I bought it from Amazon, reformatted to NTFS, and it's still showing the correct size. I was hoping to use it for Steam games but had to settle for it as extra storage for the time being.
