Why is my new laptop’s Wi-Fi signal so weak after a motherboard replacement?

Hey everyone! I recently sent my Dell XPS 15 9530 in for tech support, and they replaced the motherboard. When I got it back, it was completely wiped, and now I'm having trouble with the Wi-Fi. I noticed that my laptop only has 1 bar of Wi-Fi signal, while my desktop and phone are working perfectly with strong connections. Right now, I'm relying on my phone's hotspot, which gives me a solid 4 bars. Is there something specific I need to install or update to improve my Wi-Fi connection on this laptop? I really appreciate any help, as I'm not very tech savvy!

It sounds like your Wi-Fi driver might not be set up properly. After a motherboard replacement and restoring your system, you'll need to install the appropriate Wi-Fi driver from Dell's official support page for your model. Sometimes Windows defaults to a generic driver that doesn't work well. Just input your Service Tag on Dell's site, download the latest Wi-Fi driver (like Intel or Killer, depending on which your laptop uses), install it, and then restart your laptop.

You might also want to check if the technician forgot to connect the internal antenna to the Wi-Fi card. It’s a common oversight during motherboard replacements. If you're comfortable opening up your laptop, you could take a quick look inside to see if it's connected.

Thanks for the reply! I downloaded the driver and restarted, but the connection is still weak. I saw that there were a bunch of other updates I need to do, so I'll tackle those next. Let me know if you have any more suggestions!
