Why is my new Macbook Air not accepting the password?

I recently bought a brand new M4 Macbook Air for my wife. We set it up together, but after a week of not using it, I couldn't log in using the password we created. We tried various password variations but ended up locked out for an hour. I eventually managed to reset the password using recovery mode. After that, we created an Apple ID and documented everything, thinking we had it sorted. However, a few days later, the Macbook still wouldn't accept the password! This has made me really frustrated, and I'm wondering if this is a known issue or if I should get a replacement. I've never faced anything like this with my previous M1 Macbook Air. Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you tried reaching out to Apple by phone? They might have solutions for this issue. If they can’t resolve it, I would definitely look into returning the machine—your wife deserves a laptop that actually works!

It sounds like you might be accidentally switching keyboard layouts. Just double-check that you're using the correct US keyboard layout. Sometimes this can happen if it's set to a different language, even without realizing it.

You're not the only one facing issues like this with Macs lately. I'd recommend contacting Apple Support directly; this could be a known issue. If they can't help, consider asking for a replacement.
