I recently upgraded my computer by installing 64 GB of RAM and initially put in an RTX 4070, but it required too much power for my setup, so I swapped in a 3090 instead. Since then, my PC has crashed three times today. I'm using a 500-watt PSU and have an Intel i5-11400 CPU. Can anyone help me figure out what's causing the crashes?

It sounds like your power supply might not be cutting it. A 500-watt PSU is inadequate for a 3090, which requires more juice. You might want to consider upgrading.
You should definitely consider getting a better PSU. And also, did you use DDU when you switched your GPUs? That can sometimes help with stability issues. Also, in what scenarios does it crash—only under heavy load or even when idle?
Honestly, I don't get why you'd think a 3090 would use less power than a 4070. The 3090 typically has a higher TDP, so make sure your PSU is sufficient.
Yeah, I have a 1000 watt PSU coming tomorrow.
