I've been dealing with slow internet speeds on my PC for a while now, and it's happening across two different home networks with two different ISPs—first in Texas and now in New York. I work with some gaming servers on a Windows 11 machine, but I'm not very tech-savvy when it comes to networking. Here's my setup: I have a 5-port Netgear GS105 switch connected to a router, and three PCs running Windows 10/11 connected via Ethernet. Two of these PCs are getting the full speed we pay for, but my PC consistently gets a fraction of that speed. In Texas, I was paying for 1Gbps, but my PC would only get around 50Mbps. Now, in New York, we're paying for 500Mbps, and my PC is only getting about 10Mbps. I've tried switching cables, ports, and even removed the other PCs for testing. It seems like there's some kind of cap or choke point specifically affecting my setup. I'm at a loss and am considering a full PC reset as a last resort. Any help would be appreciated!

What’s your PC reporting as the connection speed? What tool are you using for the speed test? That can help pinpoint where the problem might be. You might be surprised by what you find!
Have you thought about just upgrading your network interface card (NIC)? Sometimes the port can have damaged pins, and for $15, you could get a new one without too much hassle. Just a thought!
I get about 8.5Mbps down and 8.7 up. It’s consistently below 10Mbps while the other PCs are hitting around 500Mbps. I’ve been using Google’s speed test and even steam downloads top out at 10.
