Why is my PC lagging and using so much GPU?

I'm experiencing significant lag on my PC, and it seems like apps are using way more resources than normal—like 20 times their usual amount. It's gotten to the point where I can't even use Windows search properly. I haven't changed anything recently, downloaded anything suspicious, or installed malware. Whenever I open an app, the GPU usage spikes to 100%, and it keeps fluctuating between 0 and 60% every second. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I hope I'm not missing something obvious. Any advice?

Make sure that all your drivers are updated. It's also a good idea to look for any suspicious services running in the background or any strange network connections. Additionally, try adjusting your performance settings to prioritize performance over appearance. By the way, which version of Windows are you on?

It sounds like you may have some underlying issues with your PC. First, we really need to know the specifications of your system to help diagnose it better. Could you share your CPU model, amount of RAM, GPU model, and the type of storage drive you have? You can check this in Task Manager or use software like Speccy for a more detailed overview.

Sure! Here are my specs: CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 5600, I have 16GB of RAM, and I'm using an SSD. How do I find out the RAM speed?
