Why Is My PC Not Displaying on My Monitor?

Hey everyone, I could use some help here. My PC, which is a couple of years old, just suddenly stopped displaying anything on my monitor. I've tried a few different HDMI ports and cables, and even did a hard reset by unplugging it for half an hour. I also tested my friend's monitor with my PC and ran my laptop on my monitor, which worked perfectly fine, so it seems like the problem is on the PC side. If it helps, I'm happy to share pictures for more context. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

From what you described, it seems to be a problem with the PC's output. If you've tried multiple HDMI cables and it’s still not working, it might indeed be something wrong with your graphics card. Have you noticed any unusual sounds or lights when you boot up? That could give us more clues.

You might want to double-check the connections inside the PC, particularly if the graphics card is seated properly. If you have any photos of the insides, it could help pinpoint any loose connections or issues.

First off, make sure your monitor isn't stuck on a different input source. Sometimes they default to another HDMI or display port. It can be a simple oversight, but I’ve seen it cause issues before!

Thanks for the tip! I typically keep it on HDMI 1, and it switched fine when I tested my laptop. So I think that’s not the issue.

It sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting already! If you're seeing a blank screen, check if there's a problem with your graphics card. You might want to try switching to the integrated GPU if your motherboard supports it. That could help identify if the graphics card is faulty or not.
