I've noticed that my PC is only getting speeds of 100mbps, even though I used the same Ethernet cable and port on my router with another PC, which achieved 1gbps – the speed I should be getting. Since my motherboard supports 1gbps, I'm not sure what else I can do to fix this issue.

If you’re lucky, it could just be a driver problem. If not, it might be an issue with your NIC. Remember, Ethernet needs 2 pairs for 100mb and 4 pairs for 1gb. If any of those contacts are faulty, your NIC will drop to 100mb.

It might be a driver issue, but you didn't mention what operating system you're using or the Ethernet chipset. That info could really help us figure it out.

You could try switching the speed setting from auto-negotiation to forced gigabit on your network settings. Have you attempted that yet?

I tried that, but it didn’t work for me.

Have you checked your network driver settings? Sometimes updating or tweaking those can make a difference.
