Why is my PC only recognizing 16GB of RAM instead of 32GB?

I need some help with my PC's memory setup. I have two 8GB RAM sticks that should total 16GB when combined (2x8). My motherboard is an MSI B450M and I'm using Corsair Vengeance LPX for the RAM. However, my PC is only showing 16GB total memory, and the motherboard has only two RAM slots. I'm not sure if I installed them incorrectly or what the issue might be.

Have you tried removing the RAM sticks and reseating them? Sometimes they might not be seated properly even if they look like they are fit snugly.

I just did that, and now it shows both slots are detected, but I'm still stuck at 16GB.

I had a similar issue, turned out it was just an installation error!

Do you know the model number of your RAM? This could help in troubleshooting.

Usually, it's printed on the stick itself or the packaging it came in!

I’m not sure where to find that!

You should test each RAM stick separately by trying one in both slots. This can help figure out if one of the sticks or a slot is faulty.

I figured out it was user error on my part!

Check your msconfig settings in Windows—go to search and type it in. Under Boot, look for advanced options and make sure you don’t have any memory limitations enabled. If you do, just uncheck them and restart your PC.

I checked that and it was already unticked, but I still can't go beyond 16GB.

Glad you figured out the issue, those things can be tricky!
