Why is my PC running so slow all of a sudden?

I built my PC about three or four years ago. While it wasn't top-of-the-line, it performed decently, giving me around 100 fps in Minecraft and 120 fps in CS:GO. However, in the last year, everything has changed. My gaming experience has gone downhill and even simple tasks like watching YouTube have become a hassle. It takes about 10 minutes to boot up, and there's a delay of about 10 seconds just to register a right-click. My setup includes a Ryzen 3 2nd gen processor with Radeon graphics, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and an Aorus motherboard. Any ideas on why my PC might be so slow?

Have you been cleaning your cache files? If not, it could help speed things up. Keeping your system and applications tidy can improve performance.

It sounds like you might have malware or your hard drive could be failing. A good first step is to run Malwarebytes to check for any viruses or issues. If you're concerned about software problems, consider backing up your important data and doing a clean install of Windows. If it runs well afterwards, it’s likely software-related. If not, you might be looking at a hardware issue.

Yeah, I agree. I did a clean install recently after backing up my files, and it resolved a ton of issues. Just make sure to keep a backup first!

Try opening Task Manager and going to the Performance tab. Check if you're hitting high CPU, memory, or disk usage. This can help you identify where the slowdown is coming from.

You should check how much free space you have on your Windows drive. Low disk space can seriously slow down your PC. If it's full, that could be one of the main reasons for the slowness.

That happened to me too! I had random bluescreen errors until I figured out my drive was almost full. Cleanup made a big difference.

If you're still using a hard drive (HDD), it's really worth switching to a solid-state drive (SSD). Also, 8GB of RAM is getting pretty tight these days for gaming and even basic multitasking. Upgrading to 16GB will really boost performance. You'll be surprised at the speed difference!
