I recently built a new PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an INNO3D GeForce RTX 5080 X3 OC, and I ran some 3DMark benchmarks. However, my results are way lower than expected. In Time Spy, I scored 23,168 points, while the average for my setup should be around 28,347 points. Interestingly, a friend with the same graphics card and a Ryzen 5800X has a higher CPU score than me. I'm curious if there are any BIOS or Windows settings that might be contributing to this performance drop. My CPU temperatures were below 70°C throughout the test.
Here are my specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (Chipset version 7.01.08.129)
- INNO3D GeForce RTX 5080 X3 OC (Hotfix Driver 576.15)
- MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi (BIOS version 7E51v1A44)
- Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 6000MT/s CL28 (Enabling/disabling EXPO didn't help)
- Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3775)
In the end, it turned out that only 8 cores were being used. After I enabled SMT and disabled the Turbo Mode, my results improved significantly!

Your results seem way off for the CPU score. I noticed your 9800X3D is only showing 8 logical cores in 3DMark, which is strange because it should have 16 like mine. You might want to check how many cores the Windows Task Manager reports. Also, make sure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date. By the way, what type of memory do you have? It looks like yours runs at 5GHz, while mine is at 6GHz.
Sometimes this underperformance can be fixed by fully uninstalling your drivers and performing a clean install. It could help reset any issues with the GPU setup. How did that work for you?
