I'm noticing that my Samsung SSD (model MZVL4512HBLU-00BTW, 512.1 GB) is only writing at 40 MB/s. What could be causing this slow performance?

Maybe it's lacking some RGB to boost its performance? Just kidding! But in all seriousness, is there any chance of overheating or power issues that could be causing this slowdown? You should look into that too.
Another possibility is that the SSD is filling up. When an SSD gets close to full, it has to split files into smaller pieces, which can slow down the writing speed significantly. How much storage do you still have free?
Just so you know, fragmentation doesn't really affect SSDs like it does traditional hard drives.
A slow writing speed could mean your SSD is starting to fail. Have you checked the health of the drive? It might also be worth looking into if the drive is getting full, as SSDs can slow down when they have limited space available. How much free space do you have left?
I’d suggest checking the space. Just like with hard drives, when an SSD gets full, it can struggle to write data efficiently.
Yeah, LOL! But it would be nice to have some flashy lights, even if it's inside the laptop!
