I'm pretty new to using Windows laptops, and I've had this HP Pavilion Plus 14" for about a year and a half. It's equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7000 series processor and an AMD Radeon graphics card, but I wouldn't call myself tech-savvy. Recently, I've been encountering some strange issues. Initially, I had a problem where clicking or typing would trigger a screen capture prompt, but restarting seemed to fix that. Now, I notice that whenever I open any apps outside of Microsoft or HP's, they glitch and open multiple windows at once. With Firefox, any time I type a search or URL, it immediately searches the first letter before I can finish typing. Plus, when I try to access Google through Firefox, it keeps reloading rapidly until I get a message asking if I'm a bot because of the frequency of requests. I'm at a loss as to what's causing this and could really use some help!

This does sound like a hardware issue. Have you considered trying to connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse? That might help rule out if your built-in keyboard is the culprit. Also, make sure you've checked for any updates or installed software that could be causing some interference.
Before diving deeper, double-check your keyboard settings in Windows. Sometimes, unexpected behavior can be resolved by tweaking the accessibility settings. If all else fails, it might be worth reaching out to HP support, especially if you're still under warranty.
It sounds like your keyboard might be acting up, possibly due to a stuck key or false presses. Try using an online keyboard tester to see if everything is functioning properly. If you have an external keyboard, connect it and check if the same issues occur. That could help you identify if it’s a hardware problem.

I think you might be onto something. A stuck key could definitely cause this sort of glitch. Good idea to test with another keyboard.
