Why is my Windows update saying I don’t have enough space?

I'm attempting to run a Windows update, but it's telling me I need 709.48MB of free space. However, I have 32GB available on my C drive and 177GB on my D drive. I've also checked the update section and nothing else seems to be causing the problem. I've tried disk optimization and cleanup, but that didn't help. Does anyone know what might be going on?

Have you tried deleting some extra files just in case? Sometimes it might be looking for an additional 709MB on top of what's already available. Ideally, keeping at least 30GB free is a good practice—might be time to consider a drive upgrade!

I deleted a few GB of files already, but thanks for the tip!

It sounds like there might be hidden partitions on your hard drive that could be blocking the update. Sometimes those need to be resized to make room for updates. You can check Microsoft's support page for guidance on how to do this.

If your hard drive shows it's red in File Explorer, that means you're low on space. You definitely need to free up more, especially if you want to run updates without issues.
