I'm trying to connect my Android tablet to the internet using a wired setup for gaming, which involves using an OTG cable to connect a USB to Ethernet adapter and then a LAN cable to the router. Despite setting it up this way, I'm experiencing significantly slower internet speeds compared to when I'm connected via Wi-Fi. What could be the reason for this?

What download speeds are you actually getting? Also, which specific devices are part of this setup? Knowing that can help figure out if there's an issue with one of the components.
There might be a few different factors at play here. If the cable you’re using is damaged or if the adapter isn't functioning properly, that could slow things down. Make sure everything is in good condition and try swapping out parts where you can.
Using a wired connection on a tablet can sometimes be less effective than Wi-Fi, especially if the charging port isn't designed for high-speed data transfer. If your OTG adapter is on the cheaper side, that could also affect your connection speed.
