I'm upgrading my PC with an MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard, a Ryzen 5 9600X CPU, and 32GB of 6000MHz RAM. I'm trying to figure out whether I should stick with my GTX 1660 Super or switch to the GTX 1080, especially since benchmarks show that the GTX 1080 is cheaper and performs better. The only advantage I've found for the 1660 Super is its power efficiency. Given my new specs, should I just go for the GTX 1080? I don't have much experience with hardware upgrades, so any insights would help!

For your new setup, it really depends on your use case. If you plan to play modern games for a while, sticking with the 1660 Super might be safer due to its ongoing support, even if the 1080 has better specs.

If you really want to push the limits of your setup, you could use the 1080 until you start facing issues with compatibility. Just be prepared that you might run into some hiccups with future titles.

Keep in mind that the GTX 1660 Super still receives driver updates. Although it lacks ray tracing, it does support mesh shaders, which some games use. If you care about ongoing support for newer games, that might be worth considering.

The GTX 1080 is older high-end hardware, while the 1660 Super is newer and more common. It’s easier for people to find it in pre-built PCs, often because they don’t have to upgrade their power supply to use it, making it more appealing to casual gamers.

One thing to remember is that while the GTX 1080 might offer slightly better performance, it lost driver support last year. This means new games might not work with it, whereas the 1660 Super still has full support moving forward.
