I recently tried to check if my PC can run Windows 11, and to my surprise, I got a message saying it has hardware limitations. I built this rig about 5 years ago with future-proofing in mind. Here are my specs:
- CPU: i9-10900k
- GPU: RTX 3080 FE
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z490a
- Cooling: Corsair h100i AiO
- RAM: 64Gb DDR4 @ 3600mhz
- PSU: RMX 1000w
- Case: Phanteks Eclipse p500a
- Storage: 500gb NVMe, 1tb NVMe, and a 3 TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
- Monitor: Acer Nitro XV27
Given this setup, is it really possible that Windows 11 is too much for my PC? I'm also a bit hesitant about switching over to Windows 11 without losing any data, so I'd appreciate guidance on that too! Thanks for any help!

Have you considered that Windows might have been installed in legacy mode instead of UEFI? That can definitely cause compatibility issues with Windows 11. If that's the case, you can convert it using a USB with the Media Creation Tool. I can give you a step-by-step if you need it!
Does the error specify what's causing the limitation? My guess is that it might be related to TPM settings, but the specifics depend on your motherboard. Check your BIOS setup for that info!
It sounds like you're missing a few BIOS settings. Make sure to enable Secure Boot, Intel PTT (which is a TPM feature), and virtualization. Your PC is definitely powerful enough for Windows 11 since you're way above the minimum requirements.
Yeah, I'd love to see that step-by-step! Sounds like a great way to fix this issue.
