Why Isn’t DDR5 AMD Expo RAM Supported on 7000 Series Chips?

I'm using an X670 X AX Rev 1 motherboard and noticed something odd. When I checked the supported RAM for the 7000 series on the Gigabyte website, all the listings for G.Skill 64GB RAM were Intel XMP versions rather than AMD EXPO. Can someone explain why this might be the case? By the way, I'm currently using a 7950X processor.

Thanks for the insights! So I can choose any DDR5-6000 CL30, regardless of its Intel XMP or AMD EXPO support? What about going for 6400 CL32? Would it be hard to manually downclock to a stable 6000 CL30?

Yep, you can just buy any DDR5-6000 CL30 without worrying about the support! And downclocking 6400 CL32 to 6000 CL30 isn’t tricky, but honestly, why go through that? Just stick with the right speed from the start!

It seems like that memory support list was created before AM5 was officially rolled out, so back then, most DDR5 RAM was XMP only.

You can totally ignore that support list from Gigabyte. Just go ahead and grab any DDR5-6000 CL30 kit you like. Whether it’s XMP or EXPO, it should work without issues.

Typical, right? Those sites are often behind on updates.
