I'm currently using Linux Mint from a flash drive while I wait for my new 1TB SSD to arrive. Every time I reboot, it feels like I'm starting from scratch because it doesn't save any of my settings or installed software. I think this might be because I'm using a flash drive instead of an internal drive. Once I install the new SSD and use the 'Install Linux Mint' option, will it actually save my settings then? I'm hoping that's how it works!

When you're using a Live USB for Mint, it doesn't save changes after you turn it off unless you've set up something called persistence. You'd need to do some extra steps for that. But once you install Mint on your SSD, it will store your settings and apps just fine. Good luck with your new drive!
A Live USB session won’t save any changes when you shut it down, but it is possible to create a Mint Live USB with persistence—but that’s quite a hassle for just a little bit of use. Once you actually install Mint on your SSD, everything will work normally. You’ll be able to customize it as you like!
You can actually create a persistent USB using Rufus on a Windows machine or with a tool called mkusb. It's just a guide if you want to do that. But honestly, if it feels like too much work, it’s better to just wait for your SSD. You can still play around with the Live session until it arrives!
