Why isn’t my 3.5mm jack producing any sound?

I recently experienced an issue where every time I plug in a 3.5mm headset into my PC, it gets detected—like the volume indicator shows that it's working while playing videos—but I can't hear anything. USB audio devices and my monitor speakers work just fine. This all started happening after I plugged in a different headset for the first time; everything was fine just three hours ago.

I had a similar issue where the jack was recognized by the system, but there was no sound. I reinstalled the audio drivers like you did, but I also tried different USB ports for my sound card and that fixed the issue. It might help to unplug any other audio devices temporarily too.

First off, check if you have your headphones selected as the output device in your sound settings. Sometimes, even if it's plugged in, your system might default to another audio source. Also, check if your audio drivers are up to date; outdated drivers can cause this kind of problem.
