Why Isn’t My BIOS Detecting My OS Drive?

I turned on my PC today and encountered a BCD error, followed by a message stating that the Winload.efi file is missing. This is on Windows 11. I attempted to fix the problem, but after deciding to reinstall Windows, the drive isn't being detected anymore and my PC just boots straight to the BIOS. I've checked, and the drive seems physically connected and fine, so I'm really puzzled here. I'm using an ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 motherboard with the latest firmware (v3.90). What should I try next?

One thing you should check is your BIOS settings. Sometimes the SATA mode needs to be changed (like switching between AHCI and IDE) for the drive to be detected properly. Also, ensure that the drive is enabled in the BIOS settings. If it’s still missing, consider testing the drive in another PC, just to rule out hardware issues.

It sounds like your system isn't recognizing the drive during the installation. You might need to install the SATA drivers before reinstalling Windows. During the setup process, look for the 'Load Driver' option—this is where you can add those drivers. You can find them on the ASRock website. Just make sure you grab the correct ones for your motherboard model before you start the installation.
