I've been using this USB flash drive that lets me read MicroSD cards for a few months without issues. But recently, while transferring files, it just vanished from Windows Explorer. The drive letter blinked and then disappeared. After trying everything to fix it, I threw it away and got a new one, but it also stopped working within five minutes—same issue. I ordered two more different brands and they both didn't work either. On the other hand, my regular USB flash drives read fine. I've even tested the MicroSD cards on three different computers, and none of them read. It's like my main computer is somehow breaking these drives. I've followed every troubleshooting tip from a chatGPT list, but nothing has helped. Is a fresh Windows install my only option? Thanks for any advice!

Have you tried plugging the USB drive in without the MicroSD card inserted? Sometimes the connection can be weird with the card in there. Just try it with the adapter alone and see if that helps.
Something seems off. I noticed that in the device manager, there's an entry for the brand of the drive you're using. You might want to try uninstalling those devices from the device manager. Sometimes lingering drivers can cause confusion.
What about the MicroSD cards themselves? It's possible the cards you are trying to use might be dead. Have you checked them separately in other devices?
I’ve tested them on other computers and they don’t read at all, so they might be the issue.
Are you sure the USB port isn’t causing issues? Sometimes poor connections on the port can lead to strange problems like this. Have you tried switching ports?
Yeah, I tried both USB ports, and everything seems fine with other drives.
I did try it without the card, but it still doesn’t show anything other than the audio ping when I plug it in.
