Why Isn’t My Hard Drive Showing the Free Space I Expected?

I'm using an ACER Nitro 5 gaming laptop, and I recently deleted a bunch of old gaming and miscellaneous folders from my hard drive. Three of those folders were around 39GB each, and one was almost 80GB. I've emptied the recycle bin and performed a disk cleanup, but my laptop still isn't showing the newly freed space. Can someone help me figure this out?

Did you actually select the folders and hit "delete" or did you uninstall the games? If it was the first option, checking and emptying the recycle bin should do it. If you uninstalled, I recommend downloading SpaceSniffer or WizTree to visually track down what's still using space.

I uninstalled most games ages ago and emptied the recycle bin, so I thought I should have more space now.

You might want to try using WizTree to see what's still taking up space on your drive. It can give you a clearer picture of storage usage.
