Why Isn’t My Laptop Detecting the SSD After Shutdown?

I've been running into a pretty frustrating issue with my laptop where it sometimes fails to detect the SSD after I've shut it down. The SSD is a sk hynix bc901, and while it usually works fine during operation, after shutting down for a few hours, it won't show up when I turn it back on. It only starts detecting it again after I've left it off for about 1 to 2 hours. This has never happened before, so I'm wondering what could be causing it and how I might be able to fix it. For reference, my laptop model is the HP VICTUS 15-fa1034nn, with an i5 12450h processor, 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 4050 6GB graphics card.

Could overheating be the issue? You might want to monitor your SSD's temperature with a tool like CrystalDiskInfo. Sometimes, drives can malfunction if they're too hot, even if it hasn't shut down abruptly. It's strange that it would work fine after cooling down, so it's worth checking out!

When you boot up, do you see a message like ‘No drive is found’ or ‘No OS/no bootable device detected’? If it’s the first, there could be a loose connection between your SSD and its connector, or the drive might be failing. If it’s the second, check your BIOS settings since it might be trying to boot using the wrong mode (like Legacy instead of UEFI). Make sure the boot order is correct!
