Why isn’t my new monitor being recognized by my computer?

I recently upgraded to a new entry-level LG monitor after using an old LG Flatron (1280x1024, 3:4 aspect ratio). The problem is, when I connect the new monitor to my computer, it goes into power saving mode and isn't recognized at all. My Nvidia T600 video card has a mini display port output, and I have a few adapters (miniDP to DP, DP to HDMI, HDMI to VGA), but the older monitor works fine with this setup. Since the new monitor is HDMI and doesn't support VGA, I'm at loss on how to connect it. What are some troubleshooting steps I can take?

Have you tried using just the miniDP to HDMI adapter to connect the new monitor directly? It sounds like all the extra adapters might be a problem. Also, make sure you update your video drivers if you haven’t done that yet. Those updates can sometimes resolve display issues!

Yeah, I was using a miniDP-DP and then a DP-HDMI adapter, but I got a direct miniDP to HDMI cable that I’m planning to try next. I did update the drivers about 4 days ago.
