Why isn’t my new monitor recognized by my computer?

I recently upgraded to a new LG monitor from my old LG Flatron 1280x1024, but my computer isn't picking it up at all. When I connect the new monitor, it just goes into power-saving mode. My video card is an Nvidia T600 and has a mini DisplayPort output. Currently, I have a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a VGA adapter for the old monitor, which still works. The new monitor only supports HDMI, so I can't use both at the same time. I've tried several monitors, but none get recognized, which is why I'm sticking with the old one for now. I'm running Windows 11, and I'm not sure what to do next.

Make sure that the monitor has the correct input source selected in its menu. Sometimes it defaults to a different source, and that can make it seem like it's not detected at all. Check for options like HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 and make sure it’s set to the right one!

If you haven’t already, remember to update your graphics drivers. Sometimes, Windows doesn’t automatically pull the latest ones, and that could be part of your problem as well!

Have you tried plugging the new monitor directly into the miniDP to HDMI adapter without the VGA? It sounds like using multiple adapters might be the issue. What I recommend is testing the monitor on its own with a straight miniDP to HDMI cable to see if that does the trick. Also, ensure you’ve updated your video drivers recently. If it's still not working, try starting in recovery mode to see if anything changes. Let us know how it goes!

Yeah, it sounds like a good idea to simplify the setup. I had a similar issue before, and just using one solid cable made a big difference for me.

Before starting your computer, connect the new monitor, and then boot up. If it still doesn't show anything, I’d recommend picking up a proper miniDP-HDMI cable instead of using the adapters. That might help things work more smoothly!

Just a heads up: using two adapters in between may cause signal issues. If you can, get a direct cable, and it should solve the problem! Let us know if you need recommendations on where to find one.
