Why Isn’t My PC Using Its Full Potential for Gaming?

I used to get about 300 FPS in Valorant, but I've noticed my GPU and CPU usage are only around 30%. My RAM usage is at about 85% as well. I've got an RTX 3060 graphics card and an i7 12700H processor. I'm wondering if there's something I can do to optimize my system or if my RAM is the bottleneck. Any advice?

Remember, CPU usage percentage doesn’t show how each core is performing. If one core's maxed out while others aren't being used, that might be your issue. You could also explore the game's engine or look into driver updates—sometimes it’s not just hardware.

Just a reality check here: thinking your PC isn't running at full potential is a bit of a gamer myth. It's tough to pinpoint which part might be bottlenecking performance. CPU and GPU usage can be misleading. Some games just don’t use all cores effectively, so your bottleneck might be one thread that's maxed out. Also consider drive speeds and software limitations.

You mentioned your RAM usage at 85%. That's a bit high, so adding more RAM could potentially help. But I'm curious, what FPS are you getting now? Plus, if you could share some details or screenshots, that might give more insight into the issue.

Honestly, 300 FPS is already pretty impressive! Most monitors can’t even display that smoothly, since they typically max out around 144Hz to 200Hz. So unless you’re using an ultra-high refresh rate monitor, it may not be worth stressing over getting more FPS. But if you feel there’s something off, it might be good to cap your frames to reduce GPU strain and power consumption.

Just a heads up, there are monitors out there, like the 600Hz ones, that can actually utilize those higher frame rates! But yeah, if you're capped by your refresh rate, it's mostly a numbers game.
