I recently had a user who retired and became a shared mailbox to save on licenses. After some time, he came back from retirement, and I reactivated his AD account, converting him back to a regular user mailbox. Now, he's not appearing in the address book, even though I set the HiddenFromAddressBook attribute to false like I found in some troubleshooting guides. Has anyone experienced this, and is there a fix?

It can sometimes take a couple of days for the user to show up in the address book after converting them back to a licensed mailbox. Be patient and see if he appears later! Also, make sure the mailNickname and ProxyAddresses attributes are filled out; if they're missing, it might cause sync issues with Exchange.
Remember, mailNickname needs to be set if you're using the HiddenFromAddressBook attribute. If it's not, set msExchHideFromAddressLists to 'not set' and sync. If he shows up afterward, it could be that the mailNickname attribute was missing before.
If you're fully on Office 365, check if your Outlook settings are set to view the 'Global Address List' instead of the 'Offline Global Address List'. Sometimes it needs an OAB refresh before you can see the updates. You might want to check OWA (Outlook Web App) as well; it always pulls directly from the server.
Good tip! I usually double-check there first whenever I face similar issues.

Yeah, I had a similar issue. Just had to wait it out a bit before seeing changes.
