I recently upgraded my CPU from an Intel i7-13700 to an AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d, and I also got an Asus X870-A motherboard along with G.Skill 8000MHz RAM (which is listed as compatible on the motherboard's website). I've encountered a strange issue: when I restart the computer, it doesn't post and shows a solid orange light on the motherboard. However, if I do a hard power reset using the power button, it boots up just fine. I've tried testing each RAM stick individually and they work when only one is used. I'm utilizing DOCP 1 to apply the correct RAM settings, but I even dialed it down to 7200MHz, and the issue continues. The motherboard's BIOS is also up to date. I've never faced this with my Intel setup before, and it's driving me a bit crazy. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

Try setting the RAM speed down to 6000MHz instead. It could stabilize the booting process.
Are you using a wired keyboard or a wireless one? I had similar issues with my wireless setup when I rebooted sometimes.
You upgraded from Intel to AMD but kept the same motherboard, right? That could cause compatibility issues!
No, I switched both the motherboard and RAM. The specs I mentioned earlier are all new.
Just to clarify, he mentioned switching to a Ryzen CPU and a new X870A motherboard, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Do you have any USB drives plugged into your ports? I've noticed sometimes that can interfere with boot processes.
I do have an external hard drive connected. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try booting without it.
Have you tried resetting the BIOS to the default settings? Sometimes that can help solve weird issues. Also, if you have access to another motherboard, it might be worth testing your components there. There's a lot that could potentially be causing the problem, and it might help to list out the steps you've taken so far. If all else fails, see if you have a tech-savvy friend or a repair shop nearby; they could help debug this faster!
I get that! Being in IT makes it even more frustrating when you can't solve something. It's odd that this only happens during a Windows reboot, but the hard reset works fine.
So, it seems like default values for the RAM let your system restart without any issues... that's interesting!
How many M.2 slots does your Asus motherboard have? Just curious if you're using both.
It has 2 M.2 slots, but I'm currently only using one.
What does the motherboard's diagnostic LED light indicate? Is it red for CPU or RAM errors?
When it won't boot, the light remains solid orange. However, if I shut down and then power up, it works perfectly.

I’m using a wireless ASUS ROG mouse and a wired keyboard. This issue didn't occur with my previous Intel setup.
